Palestinian Prime Minister Resigns
Mohammad Shtayyeh the Palestinian Prime Minister has submitted his government’s resignation to President Mahmoud Abbas. Abbas will now decide whether to accept his resignation or not. The point in discussion was who will govern Gaza later.
Mohammad Shtayyeh said that he will keep fighting the “Occupation”. He also that his government has worked very hard during Covid, Ukraine-Russia war and its economic repercussions on Palestinian people.
Mohammad Shtayyeh has been the Prime Minister since March 2019. He was elected to Fatah’s Central Committee in the 2009 and 2016 elections. He has always been aligned with the Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
Shtayyeh graduated from Birzeit University in 1981. He has stayed in Brighton, UK while completing his education abroad.
Since April 2019 as the Palestinian Prime Minister he has tried hard to keep talking to Hamas which controlled the Gaza Strip for peace negotiation.
